For the purpose of gathering of people with passion for reading, sharing good books, building a bridge between the books and our communities, Tan Tao University Library will establish a Club of Book Lovers with the desire to spread the culture of reading to the community around us.

Members: we expect to have about 10 people involved in the club. It could be TTU,TTS faculty, staff, students and pupils.

Benefits are members:

  • To meet and to share the knowledge to those around us.
  • Members will be benefit in book borrowing policies.
  • Book suggestions of members will be highly noted.

Main activities:

  • Once a week, members of the club will meet and share their learning lessons from the book. Raising some interesting issues that they met during their reading, etc.
  • To discuss and exchange on how to help students and pupils to be more active in reading.
  • At the same time, the club will organize seminars, talks about reading culture, organizing exhibitions, book fairs, etc.

Do you know who he is? What does he do? And what is his talents?

Yes, he was …

  • The most famous politician and founding father of the United States.
  • One of four people who signed the Declaration of Independence of the United States in 1776.
  • The multi-talented person of the Enlightenment: Franklin was a scientist, an  author, a printer, a philosopher, an  inventor, a social activist, and  a leading diplomat. It was him who invented the lightning rod that are now  used around the world.
  • The one of two non-president featured on  issued U.S. bills.
  • .........And he was called "The First American" by historians.

So to build up the image of a legendary man like this, how did he study and overcome difficulties?

Learning is a continuous and life-long journey. Our university or school only give you an academic environment, guiders, approaches to explore the ocean of knowledge. No school can teach you everything that you want to know about this infinitive world. Being aware of the importance of knowledge; you earn them on your own. So what are those skills? Can you earn them? Join a talk by Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang to enjoy his sharing on his own self-study skills and how to take advantage of available online resources to enrich your knowledge.


The talk will focus on the following questions:

  1. What is self-learning? What is the difference between self-learning and university/school/academic learning?

  2. What do we need self-learning?

  3. Why is self-learning a life-time journey?

  4. What do we learn?

  5. What makes us choose to learn instead of to play around?

  6. Even with self-learning, why do we have to keep coming to school?

  7. The role of library – How to do self-learning in TTU/TTS?

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang, via his personal experience, will discuss those questions with TTU/TTS students.
